The only races that can be warlocks are Blood Elves, Gnomes, Humans, Orcs, and Undead. The only kind of armor a warlock can use is of the cloth variety. Weapon-wise, they are limited to only using wands, swords (some), staves, and daggers.

Probably the coolest ability of a warlock is demon summoning (Doomguard, Felguard, Felhunter, Imp, Infernal, Succubus, and Voidwalker). Every minion has it’s role with different benefits and drawbacks. Warlocks have a wide variety of spells at their disposal including DoT’s, direct damage spells (DD’s), and some useful utility spells. They’re even able to conjure up some useful items and resurrect dead friends by using soul shards. They also possess a minor self healing ability when using drain life, and good crowd control abilities ,too. Since warlocks can acquire mounts via quests, they save bucket loads of money that most other classes need to pay.

Affliction talents are geared toward enhancing curses, DoT’s and drains. This spec is good for farming, boss killing, and raiding. This is generally accepted as the optimum leveling spec for the warlock class.

The Demonology talent tree is focused on creating more lethal demons and enhancing your conjuration spells. This is a great specialization for leveling, PvP, and general survivability. This talent tree can be used during early levels to make up for the absence of good spell damage gear.

The Destruction spec boosts the direct damage potential of both your fire and shadow line of magic. Your warlock will be able to do incredible amounts of damage and destruction, but you’ll suffer reduced survivability. This spec isn’t as popular as the others at the early levels. It requires lots of soul shards, is not mana efficient, and it is difficult to use effectively for people who want to play solo.

You’ll need to look at your own personal strengths and make sure that they are a good fit with the abilities of a hunter. Although the name tends to conjure up thoughts of tracking down and shooting animals, the hunter class is much more than that. It can be tricky playing this class as the hunter has specific strengths and weaknesses.

Ranged warfare are where the hunters skills lie, including using bows, guns and crossbow. Using these means the hunter is very good at extinguishing their enemies. Understanding what the hunter can and can’t do allows you to concoct a strategy for attacking enemies. Remember, the further off you are from danger, the better your chances of victory will be. It is very important to invest in a pet as a hunter since they can take up the slack when it comes to melee fighting. As the hunter stands back and causes damage, the pet can get in close.

Choosing a job for your hunter

After deciding to play this class, a profession needs to be chosen that fits with the hunters skills. Professions such as leatherworking and skinning are the most appropriate of professions as these will enable you to make your own armor. Another great combination of professions are skinning and mining, as these will enable you to buy weapons and armor. The professions that really don’t mesh well with a hunter are alchemy, tailoring or enchanting.

These professions are very useful in other classes, however the hunter does not benefit from them. A middle of the road profession that can be very useful is herbalism, since you can use this to make your own healing potions. Until that is, you adopt a pet to assist with melee fighting.

The Use of Weapons

Previously mentioned was the fact that the hunters skills are in ranged warfare. You’re going to want to concentrate on bows and crossbows, or if you have the skill, guns as well. When you first start out, you’ll get a pretty basic bow, but you can purchase a more effective one as you progressive through the levels that will earn you more ability and help you become more accurate. There are also many ranged weapons that you can earn as you complete quests.

The Cataclysm of WoW will completely reshape Azeroth – the original continent that original players of Warcraft grew up in. Much of the areas and scenery that you were accustomed to will be no more. The redesigning of the entire Warcraft original zones will also pave way for the ability to, for the first time, travel across Azeroth with flying mounts.

The other major news from this upcoming expansion, is the introduction of two completely new races to the World of Warcraft. Goblins will join the Horde, and Worgens will be playable for the Alliance. These two new races will each have a wide selection of very powerful racials that will make even the most established of players want to leave their max level characters and start afresh.

WoW Cataclysm wouldn’t be a true expansion if it didn’t see the level cap being raised, and while this time around the max level has only been raised by 5 levels (to level 85), it still will allow players to learn new and more powerful ranks of their favorite spells.

One point of disappointment in terms of WoW Cataclysm features is that the talent trees won’t be expanded as usual, and will remain fixed at the maximum amount of 51 points for each tree. To make up for this though, Blizzard will introduce a new end game talent improving system called The Hall of Champions. This will be a weekly progression method that will unlock more powerful abilities as you progress upon one of the 8 Halls that are up for mastering.

The Hall of Champions feature goes hand in hand with WoW’s newest profession: Archaeology. Archaeology will be a brand new primary profession where players can discover ancient relics and use them to strengthen their character.

World of Warcraft Cataclysm has many other very exciting new features that should excite both the casual and hardcore fans alike. One that has been anticipated for a long time is rated battlegrounds. While Arenas have been a large part of WoW for quite some time now, many felt that WoW Battlegrounds should also see a ladder system for proper competition.

So next time you head into a battleground, be ready to face against a mighty pre-made Guild group that will have no mercy. This ties in with another new feature called Guild Talent trees. It will not be too unlike regular character talent trees except for the fact that each guild will have one and individual player actions throughout the day will determine how much ‘experience’ the Guild will get. Guilds will be allowed to invest their points on improvements in either increased bank space, more gold per mobs killed, reduced repair costs, and a myriad of other interesting power ups.

While WoW Cataclysm doesn’t have a completely new zone as in previous expansions, it more than makes up for it with the sheer amount of new goodies that will be on hand for both new and long term players to try. WoW Cataclysm is expected to be released towards the end of 2010, so it will be a while still until the eager 11 million fan base can experience all this new gameplay.
